Ranthan Kharak Trek
Ranthan Kharak Trek
Winter Trek in Himalayas
Trekking in Uttarakhand is often associated with the Garhwal region. However, the neighboring Kumaon region, with its stunning mountains, magnificent forests, undulating meadows, and vast clearings, remains largely unexplored. One of the hidden gems of Kumaon is the Ranthan Kharak Trek, which offers a unique and breathtaking experience. The trek starts with an impressive celebration of the big mountains. Along the trail, trekkers are treated to awe-inspiring views of India's highest peak, Nanda Devi, and its sister peak, Sunanda Devi (also known as Nanda Devi East). From the Ranthan Top, the sight of the sun rising over these formidable peaks is nothing short of magical. To the right, the jagged peak of Nanda Kot stands out, piercing through the clouds with its imposing presence. While Mt. Dangthal may not be as tall as some of the other peaks, its proximity makes it a dominant feature in the landscape. Further to the east, Mt. Mrigthuni towers over the scenery, adding to the grandeur of the trek. On the western horizon, the five magnificent Panchachuli peaks rise prominently from the Ranthan Kharak ridge, creating a panoramic view that is both humbling and inspiring. Beyond the majestic mountains, the trek through Ranthan Kharak offers an immersion into exceptionally dense and deep forests.
