Adi Kailash Valley to Darma Valley
The Sinla Pass trek reaches an altitude of 5495 meters and is located in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. This pass serves as a crucial link between the Darma Valley and the Adi Kailash Valley, also known as Kutti Yanti Valley. In ancient times, Sinla Pass was a significant trade route used by the Bhotiyas, and it remains snow-covered throughout the year. The pass connects Bidang in the Darma Valley to Jolingkong Lake in the Kutti Yankti Valley, featuring steep and rocky terrain on both sides. Sinla Pass provides breathtaking views of the Adi Kailash peak, especially on clear, sunny days. It has historical significance as it was part of the ancient trade route used by the Bhotiyas to connect with Tibet. The trek offers a challenging and adventurous journey through high-altitude landscapes, showcasing the natural beauty of the Uttarakhand region while allowing trekkers to trace the footsteps of ancient traders and explorers.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival at Kathgodam drive to Dharchula and check-in guest house/hotel an altitude - 3600 ft.
Drive to Dharchula via Bhimtal, Almora, Pithoragarh, and Joljibi. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. This journey takes you through picturesque landscapes and charming towns, offering glimpses of the natural beauty and cultural richness of the region. Enjoy a comfortable evening and restful night at the hotel.
Day 2 Rest and acclimatization day at Dharchula and paper work.
Today is dedicated to rest, completing paperwork, and obtaining all necessary permissions, including inner-line permits for further travel. Taking this time ensures smooth progress for the journey ahead, allowing for proper preparation and organization before continuing with the expedition.
Day 3 Dharchula to Kutti village 4-5 hrs. drive an altitude - 12,700 ft.
We drive to Kutti village via Gala, Sirkha, and Gunji, traversing a dense forest adorned with tall ferns and a carpet of flowers. This newly constructed road by BRO offers a scenic route through the picturesque landscape.
Day 4 Kutti village to Jolingkong village 6-7 hrs trek an altitude - 14,900 ft.
During the Sinla Pass Trek from Jolingkong village we’re treated to a unique view of a glacier amidst a lush green forest on one side, with the other valley on the opposite side. This trek is renowned for its diverse wildflowers and trees. Overnight accommodation includes tents or homestays.
Day 5 Rest day at Jolingkong Village Base Camp and acclimatization day.
Today is dedicated to rest and final preparations for the climb to Sinla Pass tomorrow. We ensure all necessary equipment is gathered for the journey ahead, ensuring readiness for the challenging ascent and the adventures beyond.
Day 6 Jolinkong village to Bedang across Sinla Pass max altitude is 18,300 ft. And descend to Bedang.
The ascent to the summit of Sinla Pass involves navigating through ridges, boulders, knife-edge rocks, and an extreme vertical climb lasting 3-4 hours. Following this, a 2-3 hour descent leads us to Bedang camp, where we pitch our tents upon arrival in the evening.
Day 7 Bedang Camp to Panchachuli Base camp 4-5 hrs. trek altitude - 14,200 ft.
Today’s journey entails a challenging hike along a gorge, beyond the Panchachuli base camp. The trail ascends steadily through meadows, with the campsite nestled nearby amidst the meadows, flanked by towering rocks on the opposite side.
Day 8 Panchachuli Base camp to Dharchula town 2 hrs trek and drive to Dharchula.
Today involves a strenuous 2-hour trek alongside the Dholi Ganga River to Dantu village, beyond the Ralam River. The trail ascends steadily through meadows. The campsite is situated close to the meadows, offering a serene setting for the night.
Day 9 Dharchula to Kathgodam 8-9 hrs drive and depart.
After breakfast, you will be driven from Chaukori to Kathgodam, concluding your journey. From Kathgodam, you can continue your onward travels, bidding farewell to the serene landscapes and cherished memories of Chaukori.
