Danu Dhura, also known as Kafini Col, is situated in the Kumaon region of Bageshwar and Pithoragarh District in Uttarakhand. This expedition connects the Pinder Valley and Shalang Valley, giving rise to the Kafini River, which eventually merges with the Pinder River in Dwali. This offbeat destination in the Kumaon Himalayas offers a challenging trek, requiring trekkers to be experienced and have undertaken similar treks before. Fixing ropes in Kafini Col is necessary for crossing the valley. The ascent is a direct and challenging climb, providing access to the world heritage area of the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. From this vantage point, trekkers can marvel at the beauty and significance of the Indian Himalaya. The adventure trail offers breathtaking views of Shalang and Pinder Valleys, with close-up glimpses of mountains such as Mt. Nanda Devi, Shalang, Baljuri, and more. En route, there are cultural and traditional villages where the rich local culture endures. These villages offer a glimpse into the unique way of life that persists in the region. Trip Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Kathgodam - Khati Village 8-9 hrs drive and 4 km trek to village an altitude - 6700 ft.
Our adventure starts with an early morning train journey to Kathgodam, then a scenic 7-8 hour drive to Danpur (Khati village) in the lower Kumaon Himalayas. En route, we’ll marvel at stunning landscapes, looking forward to the tranquility and beauty of this charming mountain retreat.
Day 2 Khati Village to Dwali camp Camp 6-7 hrs trek max altitude - 9800 ft.
Khati village marks the end of the Pindari Valley. From Khati, we embark on a 5-6 hour trek to Dwali camp in the stunning Pindari Valley. Dwali provides a serene overnight stay amid pristine surroundings, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the Himalayan landscape and natural sounds.
Day 3 Trek from Dwali camp to Base camp (0 point) 5-6 hrs trek an altitude - 13,800 ft.
The trail to the base camp follows the Pindar River through dense forests of rhododendrons, oak, and walnut trees. After fording the main stream, a steep ascent leads to the Base Camp. This leg offers both serene river views and challenging terrain, ending with an overnight stay at Base Camp.
Day 4 Rest day at Base Camp and acclimatization day.at base camp.
Today is dedicated to acclimatization, with our team transporting gear to the advance base camp. This rest day allows us to adjust to altitude, ensuring readiness for the upcoming challenges while preparing adequately for the journey ahead.
Day 5 Base camp to Advance base camp occupy 4-5 hrs trek an altitude - 15,200 ft.
Today, we will transfer our remaining supplies and move to the Advance Base Camp, located in an expansive meadow known as Kund Camp or Lamcheer Camp 1. Ascending sharply through a grassy slope, we will set up our temporary base for the upcoming expedition.
Day 6 Today load- ferry to Kafni col and rope fixing in kafni col route open max altitude - 18,500 ft. and back to ABC.
Today is dedicated to acclimatization and route preparation. Our climbing team will ascend from Camp 1 to fix ropes on Kafni Col, while others adjust to altitude and assist with route opening. We will overnight at Advance Base Camp, preparing for the challenges ahead.
Day 7 Advance Base camp to Camp 2,acorss dana dhura col max altitude - 18,500 ft.
Today, we traverse the expansive ice fields of Nadakot and Nanda Bhanar Glaciers, descending from the pass through near-vertical ice and snow walls to Camp 2. This leg challenges us with icy terrain and steep descents as we progress towards our ultimate goal.
Day 8 Camp 2 to Shalang ABC 5-6 hrs trek an altitude - 15,600 ft.
We will advance to Shalang ABC for overnight camping, navigating a route of rocks, snow, and ice, posing challenges in some sections. Upon reaching the Shalang valley, we’ll establish camp, enjoying panoramic views of Pindari Valley and Johar Valley, with Dana Dhura Pass as a notable highlight.
Day 9 Shalang ABC to Martoli Village 6-7 hrs trek an altitude - 11,700 ft.
After breakfast, our trek begins with a descent followed by an ascent towards Martoli Village, a pivotal stop known for its unique experiences. As we embark on this journey, we embrace both the challenges and the rewards amidst the stunning landscapes of the region.
Day 10 Martoli village to Bugudiyar camp 6-7 hrs trek an altitude - 7300 ft.
After breakfast, our trek starts with a descent, then ascends to Bugudiyar via Rilkot and Nahardevi. Known for its allure along the trekking route, Bugudiyar offers unparalleled charm. As we traverse this picturesque landscape, we embrace both the challenges and rewards of exploring this captivating region.
Day 11 Bugudiyar camp to Munsiyari 5-6 hrs trek and 1 hrs drive an altitude - 7200 ft.
After breakfast, trek to Lilam village, followed by a jeep transfer to Munsiyari. Enjoy dinner and overnight at a guesthouse. This shift from trekking to a comfortable ride provides a welcome change, allowing relaxation and rejuvenation before resuming the journey.
Day 12 Drive to Kathgodam 9-10 hrs and depart.
Drive to Kathgodam via Almora, Bhowali, and Bhimtal, then board the train to Delhi, concluding the trip. Reflect on the memories and experiences shared during the adventure. The scenic drive offers a final chance to appreciate the region’s beauty before returning home.
