Kedartal is revered in Hindu mythology as Shiva's contribution to Bhagirathi, a source-stream of the Ganges. The trek to Kedartal, starting from Gangotri, spans 17 km and involves a challenging ascent along the narrow Kedar Ganga gorge en route to Bhojkharak. The trail passes through scenic Himalayan birch forests, providing trekkers with moments of awe and serenity. However, the journey is made hazardous in places by falling rocks, high altitude, and segments of steep ascent, demanding resilience and determination from trekkers.
